Age Appropriate Chores
Giving children chores will teach them responsibility and independence. They will feel good about themselves after they accomplish a job and will feel part of the “team”.
Here is a list of age appropriate chores:
Two to Three Years:
- Throwing things in the trash can, getting things when asked.
- Washing hands
- Brushing teeth
- Water garden (a cup at a time).
- Pick up toys at the end of the day
Three to Four Years:
- Brush teeth
- Wash hands
- Water garden
- Pick up toys
- Feed pets
- Make bed by pulling up the covers
- Carry dirty dishes to sink after eating
- Washing the kitchen table with cloth
- Put dirty clothes into hamper
Five to Six Years:
- Use bathroom
- Wash hands
- Brush teeth
- Water garden
- Pick up toys
- Feed Pets
- Set table
- Carry dirty dishes to kitchen
- Fold towels
- Put clean clothes in drawer
Six to Seven Years:
- Use bathroom
- Wash hands
- Brush teeth
- Water garden
- Pick up toys
- Feed and walk pet
- Make bed
- Set table
- Carry dirty dishes to sink
- Wash dishes with help
- Fold and put away clean clothes
- Put dirty clothes in hamper
- Clean room
