Easy and Yummy Kids Snacks

Great recipes for you to cook up with your kids!

Watermelon Star Salad

Cut watermelon slice into 5 equal wedges.  Place melon wedges on plate with the points out to make a star with a hole with cottage cheese.  Sprinkle with blueberries.


Chocolate/Carmel Strawberries

Take whole strawberries and stick a popsicle stick into the bottom to hold onto.  Then dip in melted chocolate or caramel. Stick on a pan and put into the fridge or freezer and keep there till stiff.


Yummy Worms

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Cook pasta according to packaged directions.  Drain pasta.  Put in a large bowl.  Add olive oil and garlic.  Toss

Have the kids add cheese to their bowl of worms and Enjoy


Banana Orange Sunrise

8 servings about 1 cup each

Ingredients:


Cranberry juice cocktail

Instructions:

Place orange juice, honey, and bananas in blender.  Add ice cubes till mixture measures 6 cups.

Cover and blend on low speed 30 seconds or until smooth.

Divide juice mixture between 8 glasses, pour cranberry juice on top.

The cranberry juice cocktail slowly sinks down into the slushy orange juice mixture to resemble a sunrise.


Cinnamon and Sugar Tortilla Snack

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Place the butter on the taco shell and spread it everywhere.  Then sprinkle the Cinnamon and Sugar everywhere.  Put it into the microwave for 20 seconds.  Eat and Enjoy


Cinnamon Twists

Instructions:

Stretch biscuits into an oval shape.  Dip into melted butter, coating both sides.  Then dip into the cinnamon and sugar, coating both sides.  Twist biscuits about 3-4 times, twisting in one direction.  Place on cookie sheet, and place in preheated 350 degree oven, or till golden brown.


Pizza snacks

Instructions:

Cut each bisquit in 4 pieces (80 chunks) and place in a mixing bowl.  Add 2 cups sauce and any of the following ingredients.

Turn into greased baking pan and bake 20 at 325 degree’s.  Place choice of cheese on top and return to oven just till melted.  Cut and eat.


Easy Cherry Cheesecake

Ingredients:

Mix cream cheese and cool whip until smooth.  Add sugar.  Mix. Pour into pie crust.  Pour cherries on top and refridgerate for an hour.


Doughnuts

Instructions:

Use salt shaker lid or something the size for making a doughnut hole.  Cut a hole in each biscuit.  Fry in a deep fryer, or in a skillet, with about 2” of oil.  Heat oil, test the oil by putting in one doughnut hole.  When the doughnut hole is done, the oil is ready.  Let doughnuts set on a paper towel, and cool.  When their cooled, top them with favorite frosting or cinnamon & sugar.


Peanut Butter Chip Cookie

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Heat oven to 350 degrees.  In a large bowl, combine 6 oz peanut butter chips, cake mix, oil, and eggs; mix well.  Drop dough by well-rounded teaspoonful, 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake 9-12 minutes.  Cool 2 minutes, remove to wire rack, cool completely.  In a small saucepan over low heat, melt glaze ingredients, stirring constantly.  Drizzle over cookies.  Let stand until set.  Makes 3 dozen.Try other varieties of cakes and baking chips.


Dirt Pie

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Prepare pudding according to package direction, reducing milk to 1 cup

Fold in whipped topping

Stir in ¼ cup of the cookie crumbs and all of the marshmallow

Spoon into crust’

Sprinkle top with remaining cookie crumbs

Decorate with gummy worms

Freeze until firm, about 4 hours

Remove from freezer 10 minutes before serving for easy slicing.


Fun & Easy Pizza Sticks

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Pre-heat oven to 350 degree’s.  Roll out bread sticks on an ungreased cookie sheet, lay two pepperoni on the end and sprinkle with some mozzarella cheese and fold bread stick over and twist, then mix together parmesan, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder and sprinkle over top of twisted bread stick.  Add more mozzarella if desired and bake 5-8 minutes or till golden brown.  Dip in heated pizza sauce.

You can use garlic bread sticks from the freezer, or regular bread sticks from the bakery and just brush on sauce and add olives, mushrooms, Canadian or pepperoni on top with mozzarella cheese on top.


Fruity JELL-O Popsicles

Dissolve Jell-O in water.  Add juice and pour into popsicle molds.  Freeze  Makes 16


Easy No-Bake Strawberry Shortcake

15 servings

Ingredients:

Instructions:’

Slice 1 cup of the strawberries; set aside.  Halve remaining strawberries; set aside.

Line bottom of 12x8 inch baking dish with pound cake slices.  Top with 1 cup sliced strawberries, 1 cup of the blueberries and all of the whipped topping.

Place strawberry halves and remaining blue berries on whipped topping to garnish on top.  Refrigerate until ready to serve.


Ham & Cheddar Roll-ups

Instructions:

Unroll crescent rolls.  Tear along perforations.  Place 4 triangles on an ungreased baking sheet.  Spread lightly with mustard.  Sprinkle each with 1 tablespoon cheese and 1 tablespoon cooked ham.  Starting at large end, roll dough toward point.  Fold ends in slightly to form “horns”.  Bake in a 375 degree oven for 11-13 minutes till golden.


Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

Instructions:

Prepare cake mix, as directed on the box.  Fill cones ½ full with cake mix.  Set the cones upright in a cake pan with sides, so they won’t tip over.  Bake at temperature specified on the cake mix box. The time will be different than with cake pans.  Test for doneness, with tooth pick.  If the tooth pick comes out clean, they are done.  Cool at room temperature, decorate with seasonal decorations.


Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Shapes

Instructions:

Make a PB & Jelly sandwich.  Take the cookie cutter and make PB & J shapes.  Put them on a platter and enjoy!


Mini Muffin Pizza

Instructions:

Lightly toast muffins.  Spread one generous tablespoon of pizza sauce on each muffin half.  Sprinkle with cheese; top with your favorite pizza toppings (olives, green pepper, mushrooms, green onion, pepperoni, Canadian bacon etc…  Bake muffin pizza in a 400 degree oven till cheese melts, about 6 minutes.


Malt

Ingredients:

Mix all ingredients in blender until it’s thick or as thin as you like and enjoy.


Little Piggy’s

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Wrap each hot dog piece with half of a cheese slice.  Then stretch the biscuit and wrap it around the hot dog and cheese.  Cook as directed by the biscuit package.  Serve with ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce…


Awesome Nachos

Spread tortilla chips in a single layer in a 15x10x1 inch baking pan

Sprinkle cheese over chips. Sprinkle with olives, bacon pieces, and green onion.  Bake in 400 degree oven for 2-3 minutes or till cheese melts.  Serve with sour cream or taco sauce.

Microwave Directions:

Arrange tortilla chips on a microwave-safe pizza plate; sprinkle cheese over chips.  Sprinkle with olives, bacon, onion.  Microwave on high for 1-1-1/2 minutes or till cheese melts.


Orange Julius

Ingredients:

Blend everything together


Pizza Cracker’s

Instruction:

Lay Ritz crackers salt side down on a plate.  Spoon pizza sauce on top. Place pepperoni and or mushrooms on top of the sauce.  Sprinkle cheese on top of that.  Microwave for approximately 1 minute or until cheese is melted.  Easy and quick snack.


Popcorn Balls

Instructions:

Keep popped corn hot and crisp in oven (300-350 degrees) Butter sides of saucepan.  In it combine sugar, water, salt, corn syrup, and vinegar.  Cook to hard-stage (250degrees)  Add vanilla.  Pour slowly over hot popped corn, mixing well to coat every kernel.  Press into balls (butter hands if necessary).  Try not to burn your hands.


Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients together.  Roll into small balls, smash down with fork.  Bake at 350 degree’s in oven for about 8 minutes.  Let cool in pan for 1 minute.


Snickers Salad

Cut apples and Snicker bars into bite size pieces.  Mix in cool whip and enjoy!


Holiday knox Blox shapes

For special holidays, try using different shaped cookie cutters to cut out Knox Blox.  Follow recipe as usual (see below), but instead of cutting into squares, let children cut out their own hearts for Valentines day, Christmas shapes for Christmas, Shamrocks for St Patrick’s Day. Etc…

Mix knox and jell-o in large bowl.  Add boiling water and stir until gelatin is completely dissolved.  Pour into 13x9” pan and chill until firm.


Vegetable Man

Instructions:

Making a vegetable man helps children to eat and like vegetables.  The face is a slice of tomato.  Eyes, nose and mouth are raisens.  The body is a cucumber cut the long way.  The legs are celery sticks, and the arms are carrot sticks.  The hair is shredded cheese.


Yummy Fried Apples

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Core and peel apple.  Slice to approximately ¼” thickness. Let children dip apple ring into pancake batter.  An adult places the dipped ring in hot oil.  Fry for about 1 minute.  Turn over and fry on the other side.  Serve with butter, cinnamon, and a sprinkle of confectioner’s sugar.


Snacks for Infants

Freeze and then partially thaw miniature bagels.  Give them to teething infants as teething biscuits.  They work great.


Rice Cake Happy Face

Children love to make their own snack “happy faces”.  Spread rice cakes with peanut butter or cream cheese and decorate with nuts, raisens, grapes, etc…


Hot Dog People

Take a hot dog.

Cut it around but not through about 1” down from one end.

About half way down, cut notches on either side.

Split the end opposite from the first cut about 2”

Boil as usual

When it is done, the hot dog looks like a person.


Licorice Necklaces

Put a bowl of Cheerios in the center of the table.  Let each child take a handful.  Put a knot in one end of the licorice.  String Cheerios onto the licorice and loop to make a necklace.  Children snack on the Cheerios.
